The Relationship You're Overlooking

Relationships are one of Martin Horn’s core values. While most people typically associate relationships with clients and subcontractors, one of the most important types is often overlooked: relationships among coworkers. Strong relationships with key clients are essential for maintaining trust and continuing to win work, and dependable subcontractors can make a significant difference in helping a project succeed. However, strong working relationships within a team are just as critical to both individual and company success.

Healthy relationships within a team help create an environment that feels more like a family while also encouraging accountability. Not necessarily in the sense of constantly holding one another accountable, but in creating a shared commitment where individuals want to perform at a higher level because they do not want to let their team or company down.

During my time at Martin Horn, as well as my experience in the Army, building relationships has always been a priority. The old saying, “It’s not always what you know, but who you know,” often proves true. Genuine relationships build trust and create a support system that makes it easier to ask for help when needed and just as easy to provide help when someone within the organization is struggling.

This emphasis on relationships not only strengthens teams but also contributes to a culture where people support one another and work together toward shared success.
