UVA Aquatic & Fitness Center Chiller Expansion

The Aquatic and Fitness Center Chiller had two 1,200 ton chillers, not nearly what was needed for this busy University area. Martin Horn added three additional 1,500 ton chillers to bring the chilled water capacity to nearly 7,000 tons.  UVa’s need for chilled water could not be interrupted during the course of the project, so Martin Horn took advantage of the times when chilled water was not needed, during the winter.  Site access and laydown area were limited, so our mechanical contractor used a nearby warehouse and storage area for fabricating pipe, storage and preparation. In addition, this project was next to a sensitive wetland area.
