We are so excited to help renovate The Front Porch. TFP is an awesome, non-profit roots music school in Charlottesville that helps build our community through the positive influence of music. As avid supporters of both our community and the arts–we are happy to help TFP achieve their goals of bringing people together through music.

Major changes ar
e underway at The Front Porch! Thanks to the wonderful folks at Martin Horn, Inc, our lobby is more spacious and beautiful, and we have new floors and two much-needed closets. This week we’ve begun a complete renovation of the second floor. Come fall, we’ll enjoy an upstairs community room, a complete kitchen, an actual Front Porch office (yay!), and five new teaching studios. Our little school is moving from four to NINE teaching spaces this fall. This means more lessons, more jams, more classes, more MUSIC. Stop by when you’re downtown and we’ll give you a tour!

The Front Porch relies on community engagement in order to thrive, and we have been the beneficiaries of a highly engaged and enthusiastic populace! In 2017, 418 people registered for lessons and classes. We sold more than 2500 concert tickets, employed over 100 performing artists, and and impacted hundreds of children and families through free music programs at community centers, schools, and after school programs. Our jam program is booming: we now host bluegrass, blues, Irish, jazz, old time, and African drumming music circles on a regular basis. We participate in numerous community festivals, reaching thousands more through instrument petting zoos, performances, sing-a-longs, and other community music opportunities throughout Central Virginia. And there is LOTS more to come, now that we have more space!
