Kevin Rupert | Truck Driver

Why did you choose a career as a Truck Driver?

When I was a child, I used to ride alongside my stepfather in his big truck. I remember talking into the CB radio and thinking it was the coolest job. As an adult, I like meeting new people and familiarizing myself with different areas. Plus, there’s just something women like about a pickup man!

Why did you choose to work at Martin Horn?

Martin Horn’s Shop Manager, Chris Davis, told me about the company. Chris told me they were looking to add another truck driver to their team and it sounded like a great place to work. I applied for the position and it’s been a stable, enjoyable job since then. I look forward to coming into work each day because I know I’m not just another number on the payroll.

Is there someone you look to as a mentor? Someone who inspires you?

I look up to my grandpa. He’s a man who’s really seen everything life can throw at you. He’s a Vietnam Veteran and suffered from PTSD, but still managed to be there for me. He showed me how to play Baseball and having sports in my life has made me a good competitor and teammate. Another person I look up to is my mom- she worked 3 jobs while I was in school and still managed to make it to all of my games.

What is the best advice you can give to new drivers?

One of the most important things I’ve learned is to always pay attention to your surroundings. I try not to rush when I’m working and I try to plan my trips ahead of time whenever possible.
