UVA Academical Village – McCormick Road Wall

The University of Virginia Academic Village was designed by Thomas Jefferson and constructed the early part of the 19th century. It is the oldest part of the University and still functions as it was designed. When UVA decided to restore the field stone wall surrounding this World Heritage Site. Martin Horn was awarded the contract to build these walls down the entire length of the West Range of the Academic Village. This wall is located on McCormick Road, which is one of the heaviest pedestrian trafficked areas of the entire university. Keeping pedestrians safe during the construction was the greatest feat of the project.
